Sermon Text:
Isaiah 11:1-9
Excerpt
The ancient kingdom of Judah suffered corrupt, evil leadership. Because of his wickedness and refusal to trust God, King Ahaz brought down God’s judgment upon the people of Judah. God used Assyria to chastise them. The oracle contained in Isaiah 10 and 11 came as the Assyrian army, 200,000 strong, was camped within view of Jerusalem at a town named Nob (10:28-32). It seemed like the end of Judah and the Jewish people. But through Isaiah, God promised He would preserve a remnant (10:20-23). From that remnant God will bring forth a king.
