Grace Worship Team Covenant
The purpose of our Worship & Music Ministry is to use music and the arts in a way that glorifies God and brings people into relationship with Jesus.
The most visible function of this ministry is to provide music/drama/specials for, and lead in, worship during our Sunday morning services as well
as other celebrations of the church. We include music in our repertoire that represents various styles and streams of influence.
A covenant is an agreement between people and/or people and God. When God covenanted with people he reminded them that keeping the covenant would bring
blessing to the people with whom He had covenanted. The same is true with our worship team covenant. If each party agrees to and carries out the covenant
the group will experience life like they never have before. The following commitments (covenant) are required to be a part of the worship team (music,
drama and the arts) of Grace Community Church.
- Committed attender - The regular, ongoing and leadership nature of this ministry requires a strong commitment to the people and leadership of this church.
- Spiritual maturity - Leading praise, drama and worship requires that there be an ongoing relationship with the Lord, Jesus Christ. Those involved in the ministry
of praise and worship should have lives that reflect worship. Hence, it is our desire to nurture the spiritual growth of team members through bible study, prayer and fellowship.
- Time commitment - Regular attendance and punctuality at practice sessions and group rehearsals is required.
- Teamwork - This ministry requires teamwork. Members are accountable to each other for protecting the unity of, sharing the responsibility of, serving the ministry of and
supporting the testimony of the Grace Praise Team.
- Accountability - This team will pray for each other's needs, develop unity and fellowship and be accountable to each other.
Rehearsals are to be:
Positive and lighthearted - Check egos, attitudes and stressful situations at the door so that team members can enjoy being together and making music to the glory of God.
Productive - Team members should go away from the rehearsal feeling that new things were learned, their musical skills were nurtured, and that their souls were nourished.
Purposeful - This team is a vital part of the ministry of Grace and of God's kingdom. We are not just learning words and practicing chord changes. Rather, we are preparing
to lead a portion of the body of Christ in worship.
