I was born in Port Hueneme California in 1953 and moved to San Diego shortly thereafter. My mom was an immigrant from New Foundland Canada who knew Christ in a distant sort of way. My father (part Choctaw) was from Oklahoma and was sent to a Catholic Indian boarding school creating a major distrust for organized religion. Between the nuns and the navy he battled the demons the best he could. Both my parents loved me very much but the late sixties brought on many influences that I couldn't resist. Thanks to my wife and work, I was able to make it through without a lot of damage. I knew of Christ but didn't know Christ until I was 38 years old. Up until that time I had been going to church a little and knew some of what Christ was saying and had even been baptized at age 28 after the birth of our little handicapped child Wendy. In one short weekend He came into my life like a whirl wind for no particular rhyme nor reason. It was like Paul on the road to Damascus except he didn't blind me or talk to me out loud. He changed me forever and did things for me I didn't deserve and will be grateful for the rest of my life. |

Born and raised here in Ramona, I grew up with a younger brother and many cousins around town. I remember going to a weekly bible study in town at the age of eight in a home led by a nice older woman. My grandparents also lived nearby so I visited them often, and always remember grandpa reading his Bible after breakfast daily. He always said that God has a purpose and plan for us all. I enjoyed a great career in the fire service of 35 years, retiring in 2003. Married since 1972 to Kathy from Julian, we are blessed with two children and four grandchildren. I have been a active member at Grace Church since 1995. We are all chosen with a purpose. As a deacon, may God empower and strengthen me as I commit myself in serving Him and the church. God blesses us to be a blessing to others. |
